About the Random Object Generator
Constraints beat blank pages
Being told to draw anything is harder than being told to draw a kettle. A random object removes the paralysis of infinite choice, which is why drawing challenges, improv warm-ups and design sprints all lean on this kind of prompt.
Industrial design courses use a harsher version: generate two objects and design something that does both jobs. The results are usually terrible and occasionally excellent, which is the point of the exercise.
What is in the list
Over 200 objects you would actually find in a house, a workshop or an office — deliberately concrete and easy to picture. Abstract nouns are excluded, because you cannot draw or mime an abstraction, and that is what these prompts are for.
