About the Random Animal Generator
What people use it for
Drawing prompts are the most common use: an animal you did not choose forces you out of the handful you always default to. Teachers use it for research assignments so every student gets a different species without anyone feeling singled out. It is also the engine behind a lot of charades and Pictionary rounds.
Writers use it differently — as a source of metaphor. Being handed 'heron' when you were describing someone waiting is more useful than trying to think of the right comparison from scratch.
What is in the list
More than 150 animals spanning mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians and insects, weighted toward species most people can picture. There is no point in a drawing prompt nobody can visualise, so obscure taxa are deliberately left out in favour of recognisable ones.
